Got a question for ya's

I cam acrossed a 1988 Celica GT Hatchback (technically liftback to Toyota). Its a 5-speed with 150,000miles for $1000. It looks like its in damn good condition for how old it is. I'm going to go test drive it tomorrow. Anyho I was wondering what you guys think, is it worth it?

I know there is not much to be done with it, but I just want ohave a different car then everyone else. My friend wants me to get this CRX, but everybody has hondas. The only thing I plan to do if I get it is a new paint job, rims, and the standard bolt ons. If the engine ever dies (its an import engine, so if I clean the internals and take car of it, should last me past 200,000 easily), I know where to get swaps cheaper then having the engine rebuilt.

Does anybody know where to get I/E/H for this car? I've looked a little, but not really a whole lot...I just found out about this today.

Anyhoo thanks.

Have had both of these cars, both fun to drive both pretty similar in performance, the only difference you realy need to consider is the price of insurance, the CRX might be cheaper being a smaller engine? Looks wise I`d go for the celica and the price is spot on if its in OK condition. If you havnt purchased it after the test drive I`d be most suprized.

Re: Got a question for ya's

I used to have the exact same car pretty much. That sounds like a good price just make sure the brakes and front end are solid.

Oh ya, you may find that the car grinds going into 2nd gear. Both my 88 and 89 did this. Problem with the syncros I was told, but they both worked fine I just had to be easy going into 2nd.
