b16a into 5th gen civic
After my timing belt snapped I thought it might be a good time to get that motor swap done I've been planning.
I havent bought anything yet and I need to get my car moving again as soon and as cheap as possible with the exception of it not being another d16z6. My car is a 94 civic ex 2 door automatic, I want to change over to a standard but I can get a b series automatic tranny for free so I'm gonna stay automatic for the time being. My questions are... Which b16a will take the least effort to drop into a 94 civic? Will I have to alter/change axles to use a tranny from a b21a1? Will the b16a exaust manifold bolt into and line up with the stock exaust? |

1. 92-95 B16A is the best for you, you don't want to use a OBD 0 B16A(1) because you'll have to change a few things (distributor, injectors, various sensors), and wind up spending the same anyway. This guy has one he is selling (B series auto tranny), good guy too, it's from a 90-91 so the plugs maybe different. http://www.hondaswap.com/forums/inde...0&#entry367147 2. The B21A1 is the old Prelude motor right? Can't use it, not the same B family, plus it's probably a POS anyway. You can either source your own auto tranny, or get a B16A auto from an importer. IMO you'd be better off getting an auto GSR for a little more. 3. Yes it will bolt up, but if you have a model withbthe cat right off the motor, you are going to have a space about 1.5' between it and hte B pipe.

ES, and the B20A in Japan, A18A1 (carbed) in the US 87, also EK1, ES1, and EF1 depending on how far back you go.

Re: b16a into 5th gen civic
b21a1 is from the 90-91 prelude si, it is fuel injected
If i get the tranny that was designed for the sir2 b16a I should have no axle problems, correct? I read somewhere that I will have problems with using JDM injectors with my USDM ECU, is this correct? If so what is the best course of action for me to take? |

Re: b16a into 5th gen civic
I was told that I need axles from an integra and a custom mount for the automatic tranny, is this true?

Re: b16a into 5th gen civic
If you aren't changing from auto to manual, no you don't.
