Civic vs. Corolla

would u buy a corolla le if it were 2000 cheaper versus a civic lx

both sedans and 2004 brand new...

my cuzin is buying a car and she's getting a corolla cuz her dads paying for it, i'm trying to change his mind but he wont listen.

Corolla is DOHC with 130hp versus 115hp SOHC, is civic still the better deal?

Well, you have to remember, your asking this in a Civic forum. So most of your answers are going to come from Civic enthusiasts. It really depends on how much she wants to modify the car (if thats what shes into). If she is looking to modify the car then the Civic is definitely the choice, solely based on part availibility. Has she test driven either of these two vehicles? That might be a good idea before purchasing either of the two. There really is no "right" choice, but whatever makes her happy is probably the best...

Is she going to modify it? If not, it doesn't really matter. They're both bad investments. They will both be worth half what she paid for it in 4 years.

Are you gay? Civics and Corollas have very high resale values..

I would get the Corolla since it's 2000 cheaper.

Re: Re: Civic vs. Corolla

Let's see what holds its value better.
Hummer
BMW M3
Civic Si
Toyota Supra
Anything Porsche
Mustang GT

My point is, don't buy either one with the hopes of a killer investment. If you're gonna keep it for ten years, you'll be happy with the reliability. Just don't expect to sell it 5 years from now for 2 grand less than what you paid for it.

Sound the stupid alarm:
All those cars are out of the freaking league to the cars in this forum so please keep you comments on track. Thanks. Since when do Mustangs hold value?

does anyone ever buy a car for an investment? aside from antiques that never get driven anyway.

as far as holding value, the civic would be a little better, but who buys cars for that? I haven't driven a new carolla, but I rented one once, maybe a '00, and I hated it. The steering felt like crap and it had no power. I've never driven a civic LX either though, but I test drove an '03 EX and I liked it a lot.

basically what I'm saying is just have her drive them both, it's the only way to answer this question. Don't base it on the name or the opinions of some civic fans on a forum.
