Need help with 735i

I am currently SERIOUSLY considering purchasing a 1992 735i. I kind of have my heart set on turning it in to a pretty nice performance vehicle (more so than it already is). Currently, I have working knowledge of the capabilities of Asian vehicles, and performance enhancements, and of course domestic (north american) vehicles. My big question is how will the german engineered inline 6 of the BMW 735i take either a super or a turbo. Personally, I would rather put a supercharger on it, however, I would be willing to use a turbo. I realise that 209 Cu.I. seems a little small to put a supercharger on, but I'm just really set. Possibly because I want a smooth intake built in to the hood. I would really appreciate any information. Only on the actually super of turbo though, I've pretty much figured out the other major aspects.
