Wrong forum... Modifiers are diecast, and they need some work...

I'm afraid I have a laundry list of issues with these buildups.

For starters, I would have suggested you actually spend the money to properly strip the paint off of the bodies of those modifiers. Scale Auto Magazine had an excellent 2 part article on stripping and painting diecast metal models (April and June 2002 issues). They suggest using Klean Strip Aircraft Remover and it works incredibly well. Not to mention putty will adhere better to bare metal as opposed to metal that still has paint (even scuffed paint) on it.

Secondly, it appears to me that you have some cracking and pitting in your putty. This is caused not only by the weak bond of the putty to the metal, but also because you're using a very weak porous putty (Squadron White, would be my guess) that, while being excellent for filling sink marks or small gaps, is not very good for constructing whole pieces out of. Investing in a good two part resin putty is a very wise decision (a lot of the guys here use Tamiya putty, I myself use Epoxolite).

Finally, you'll want a much finer grit sandpaper, a panel scriber, and some Flexi-files. These will improve how well you shape your bodykit tenfold. Micro-Mark's catalog has just about every tool you could ever want or think of for model building. Pick it up or look them up on line and you'll see just how much is available.

Trust me, you'll be far more pleased with the results. And no, 1/43rd scale is not difficult to get incredible results in. Just take a look at this Porsche 911 Sennake built if you want proof.
