Question Truck wont start, not getting gas.

My 89 2wd truck wont start. It isnt getting any gas to the engine. It ran fine a couple months ago but I havent driven it for a while and now it wont start. It turns over fine. The gas gauge also isnt working either.

I am wondering if there is a sensor that might be shutting the fuel pump off? I really dont want to put a new fuel pump in but I dont know what is up. Thanks.

Update:

I pulled teh fuel pump and checked to see if it was getting power and it isnt. What could cause the fuel pump to not get power? I tested the fuel pump and it works too. ???

I had this problem on my '87 pickup a few months ago, its most likely subijitsu the fuel pump relay, check that first, b/c you said the pump's in working condition, you can pick up a cheap relay at the wreckers.

Try that and let me know how it works out

Re: Truck wont start, not getting gas.

I know this may sound silly, but have you checked the fuse? Jay is probably spot on with the relay; Try tapping the relay with the handle of a scewdriver, or swap it with another relay known to work, I cant remember off hand but I think it is the same relay as the hedlights or something like that. If it is not the fuse or relay, get out a test light and a paper clip and start back-probing connectors and wires untill you figure out where the open circuit is.

Best of luck and let us know how this comes out,

Nate

Good luck and
