which cheap componenets?

i'm looking for some infput on component sets i've been considering, they are:

alpine type r
alpine type s
infinity 6000cs
mb quart dse 216(i think)

having heard none of these: i've heard that the type r's have great mid-bass, the type s's lack mid-bass, and that the infinity's and the mb quarts are bright sounding. from this i have determined that the type r's would be best for me, but i haven't heard any of these sets, so i'm looking for some input from someone who runs, has run, or has even heard any of these sets.

Re: which cheap componenets?

Based on what you said you've heard each one sounds like, and your choice based on those, it sounds like you made the right one (did that come out right?).

I think you should go with the type-r out of those choices, but also look at the focal access (a little bright, but that can be fixed with an EQ, they also have good midbass), or the CDT classics.

hate to bring this into the mix, but price is very strict on this, i'm gonna try to keep this under 120, and the type r's are about 120+shipping...anyone have any other suggestions...

Re: which cheap componenets?

Ah alright, nevermind then, both the Access and CDTs are in the $150-160 range

well this is for later on in the summer when i get the means to put a system into my car, so i might have the money then, i was also recomended the alpine spx's, i have heard great things about these. which of: the focal's, the cdt's, or the alpine's would be the better choice for a good amount of mid-bass, without the brightness, and and nice mid-range?

I have focals in the CRX - they sound great, really smooth (not bright). I just put the CDT's in the Accord, they sound clean but I need to keep tuning and have a little more time to evaluate them
