Bilstein shocks no break line mount?

hey whats up. i just put in a set of bilstein HD struts on my integra. the shocks didnt come with any mounts for the break lines so i just took a hammer and hammered out the break line mounts off of the stock struts and put them on the Bilstein shocks. Is this what I'm supposed to do? i heard people who buy shocks that dont have break line mounts just zip tie the break line to the shocks. How come they just dont use the stock break line mounts?

also when i was installing the struts, i had to assemble it 1st. the struts came with this metal pipe spacer looking thing. it was about 2 inches long and it was the same diameter as the strut housing. i put this metal spacer inbetween the strut and the dust cover. it was the only place where i could see this peice going. did i do it right?
