Unhappy Check engine Light/ Turbo manifold glows hot red

Hi guys.
I have a 1988 MX-6 GT Turbo and today I put on it a new water pump. Once I finish the job and turn the car on for check if everything are ok, I notice that the check engine warning light comes on and stay on all the time.
I like to know how I can read the ECU codes for search the problem and solve it. Or how can I reset the check engine warning.

The next thing is that after drive the car for a few minutes I notice that the exhaust manifold glows hot red. I notice this in the night in a real dark area. Under bright condition you can not see anything.

If someone can help me I will appreciate very much.
Thanks to all.
Ivan.

Re: Check engine Light/ Turbo manifold glows hot red

The turbo housing turning red is normal. The manufacturer recommends letting the car idle for a minute or so before turning off after a hard run so it will cool down some.

Re: Check engine Light/ Turbo manifold glows hot red

i would get a turbo timer, or a remote starter if you have an automatic (if you get good one, you can set it up to keep car running after cars off) basically if you dont know much about them, they just basically allow the turbo to cool down gradually. Also, is the car sluggish at all? cause your cat could be going bad. To reset ecu unplug the ground (-/blk) cable from the battery for about 3 minutes, the car may run rough for about 30 miles after that just to warn you so dont beat on it too bad.
