Re: used tahoe?

I hate to be biased like this. I can tell you that the engine will not be your concern at all. The tie rods which have to be torqued on to about 40 ft lbs will be though. Those will need replacing, as they will likely be worn. Wheel speed sensors tend to get really greasy on those and start to go bad, causing your abs to make a noise when you stop, but it will not impede the stopping or very much of the performance of the abs, so it can almost totally be disregarded. There are other things to consider also, U joints with that kind of mileage. You will need to heed a warning issued by GM in the winter if you don't let it warm up you may experience a slight rod knock from the #8 rod for a few seconds once or twice, though i know of no one who has ever thrown a rod due to this, it is still within spec. That is a great reliable engine and trans. I would jump on that deal if i were you. There are only a few maintenance related things that you may have to look into if you do get it, but nothing that you could avoid by getting a different high mileage vehicle. Another thing to be weary of is th cost of the tune up, the cap and rotor and wires and unique to the V8 Vortec, so they can be costly, but check ebay periodically and you are likely to find them on there for fairly cheep. Either way good luck, and be careful, spend your money wisely. God bless.
