1996 ram 360 wont start

Our ram died last week while on the road. Towed it home and put a new coil on and it started up, Put the old coil back on and it also started on, changed back to the new coil and would not start. I then put a new crankshaft sensor in and nothing. We have checked and it is getiing fuel but no spark. If anyone knows anything we could really use the help.

Re: 1996 ram 360 wont start

Do you have access to a scanner?
I'm not sure why you replaced the Crank Sensor, but if you are certain that it is installed correctly, try checking the wiring harness coming from your camshaft position sensor. I also have a '96 but with the 5.2l. They are notorious for this problem. Coming from the cam sensor (above, and behind #7 Cyl, near the distributor) are 2 wires that attach to the main wiring harness. The 2 wires were installed short by the factory and tend to cause a bad connection, or rub against the intake manifold creating a ground. Chrysler has gone as far as calling the troubleshooting procedure the "wiggle test"; Hold the 2 wires, and wiggle them while some one cranks the engine over, and with any luck your engine will start. If it does, you simply have a couple of wires to repair.
If this is your problem, sometimes, not all the time, when you initially turn the key to the "run" position befor the "crank" position, the dashboard warning lights will not light up. You know the ones I mean, low oil pressure, check engine, low fuel, etc...
I hope this is of some help to you, but it would also help us to help you if you let us know what you have done to trouble shoot your problem.
ej; why did you replace the coil, and crank sensor?
How do you know you are getting fuel?
Are you able to test your fuel line pressure?
Did you test for spark by grounding your spark plug to the block? Doing this could cook your computer.
