I need to know where and how I can go about changing out stock headlights to halo projectors. I had my dad and brother look at it, and they said the whole front bumper needs to come off!?!?! Also, the halo projectors dont have a way to adjust the beams like my factories do. Is that going to be a problem? What I am looking for is step by step instructions to changing out the lights, what tools I will need, any problems I will encounter, etc.

Re: installing halo projector lamps
Hey I bought those...You do have to take your bumper off and a couple support bars (one on each side)...I put them in easy enough, but now I am stuck with two problems...like you said, you can't adjust the beam and finding a way to make the "halo's" actually work. I heard you have to tap the red and white wire to your main head light wire...but I want to find out first...but if you find out anything let me know and i'll do the same.

Re: Re: installing halo projector lamps
I'm a newbie. My first accord and lovin it. I just got a used 96 accord and the headlights seem to be out of whack. The left side is like it's on "mid" high beam.
How do i adjust the lights? Where would i get documentation to do this? This is probably no help to you pro's adjusting halo projector lamps, any suggestions on my end would be appreciated. Thanks. |

Re: installing halo projector lamps
well u said u have the 96 accord and im sure you dont need to remove the bumper to adjust ur headlights, the removing the bumper part was for installing projectors on the 90-93 accords ,but for ur accord just try looking for screws on top to adjust my stock headlights the screws were on top but it might be different for urs.

Re: installing halo projector lamps
Hi Guys,
I'm not installing new headlights. The originals are on and are out of whack. I just need to adjust the right headlight a little down. Seems pretty basic but i'm lost as the car manual I have is in Thai. The english one is in the post and yet to be delivered. Thanks. ivan. |

I have those lights on my 96 accord and installed them with my friends. Yes you do need to take the bumper off. Indside the bumper in the middle there are some bolts that need to come off and I believe on the side attached to the panel there are more. I havent done it in a while so dont take this all for sure. It is kind of a pain in the ass. Once the bumper is off a few bars come off than unscrew the whole assembly. The new lights will connect to the old harness but will run a h3 for some halo models instead of the stock 9006. (for me this is causing problems cause they keep burning out). The lights can be adjusted verticaly and horizontily. There are two sets of screws for each headlight next to the low and high beams that you need to turn to adjust. The halos do need to be connected to the red and white wires. A t tap can take care of this but make sure you connect the right ones. When I did this I did it with my friend who works for a mod shop. My advice is DO NOT take apart your car if you have never done it before. Wait til you have someone who knows. They look dope but the h3 isnt as strong and mine keep burnin out. if anyone has any suggestions for my problem let me know. Again im not a pro with the advice I just gave just what i remember. later

Re: installing halo projector lamps
Ok, so I got the dual halo lights on my car. I had my mechanic install them.. but there seems to be some problems. I am a night time driver and the beams seem to be in the shape of a W when driving and there are MAJOR parts of the road that do not have light. Can this be fixed with adjusting the beam... the screws next to the low and high beams? My brother told me there was no way to adjust the beam on halo projectors. At least that was when he was comparing the stock lights with the projectors, he did not see anywhere the projectors could be adjusted.
My second problem is... when the high beams are on, they do not look bright at all. They could pass as my low beams. They dont shine anywhere but down and dont even pass my low beams when shone on the road. I do most of my driving at night and it is becoming a real bitch with these things on. Also, what light bulbs come in the projectors? are they 9006 or H3? Id like to replace them because they suck but dont know what they are to replace them. Other than the lighting problem, people are complimenting me left and right on the looks. A definite cool mod but not very functional. I appreciate any help with these lights. Quote:

Re: installing halo projector lamps
So would you say that it would be worth it to buy them or not?

well, depending on if the light beam can be adjusted on them, I would definitely recommend installing the lights. People have told me that they look very aggressive and super cool. They are definitely the look I intended for the front of my car. Also, I would go with the one piece headlights instead of buying the headlamps and corner lights seperate.

The subject is how to install halo projector lights on a 97 accord. I now have them installed and am having trouble adjusting the beams and seeing at night. I have pictures but am not sure how to put them on here.

i have owned 2 sets of projector headlights. Yes you can adjust them...on the back of the light there are screws around each light...(high, low) turning them adjusts the light...the first set i had had 3 screws, the new one piece light i have now only have 2. Of course they are a huge pain to get to the easiest way is with a 90 degree phillips. when it's dark...or in a garage park about 20-25 feet away from a wall and that way you can see the light on the wall and it's easier to adjust them. As far as the bulb it is likely an H3(LOW) or an H1(HIGH) the new lights i have are H1 and H1 so it's hard to say. Replacing the bulbs will change the color but not the light output unless you get new wire harnesses and higher wattage bulbs. I actually just disconnected the low beams and ran around with highs only in the last set i had because i got tired of not being able to see. Fog lights help too of course...good luck
