I was just on my way home, turned on my headlights, everything was working perfectly. All of a sudden my instrument lights went out as well as the heater and shift pattern lights. When i got home i realized the tail lamps were out, yet brake lights and reverse lamps worked. I turned off my lights and the headlamps did not fold down. I checked all my fuses and all are good. The fuse descriptions are worn away, so im not sure what is what on all of them, so i just checked em all. There are some spots that i think have too high of a fuse in them. i.e. 25a in a 5a spot Would this cause a problem? Any ideas what could be taking all of those things out at once? Are they on the same relay? Everything had worked perfectly before this incident.
either way ![]() and thanks |

update
Well, i replaced the headlight switch and redid some of the connections. Still nothing.
If one of the headlight actuator relays went would that make all of the above not work? I noticed that the back of the plugs goin into the relays were a little melted. I'm describing the two that are on in front of the wheel wells on each side. Iv gone through just about everything, havent gotten a multimeter yet to test the system, but ill be doing that soon. The cars inspection is up, so i really need to get this done quick. Not to mention i cant drive at night. Anyone who knows anything, or had a similar problem, please help.

Re: 86 trans am- lights
id say that a bigger fuse could sent to much
power if there was a surge or short and may have blown all of the bulbs.

unless you have the right amp fuse in the right socket, it will hurt your car. too high in a fuse is bad, too low in a fuse is bad. can't remember why but i am 100% sure they are bad unless they are the same number.
