Question check engine light and codes p401 & p402

I had the check engine light come one. so i went to autozone to get the codes.

It comes up with both p401 insufficent flow detected and P402 excessive flow detected.

ok im at a lose on what it could be?

anyone have any ideas?

You need to replace your DPFE (Delta or Differential Pressure Feedback E.G.R.) sensor. It helps regulate the amount of E.G.R. flow that is needed. It is located on the intake manifold and has two rubber hoses attached to it. It is screwed on with two 7mm screws. It is black on the 2001 taurus and is about 2 1/2" by 1.5" rectangular shape. If the engine light is still on then disconnect your battery after you change the sensor. Leave it disconnected for about 1/2 hr. This will clear the engine light for you.

Not sure but where you are it might be a dealer part. You could always post a new thread for purchasing a DPFE and see what others have access to.

Waggie, Would you mind posting the recall number for the DPFE sensor? My dealer says he hasn't heard of a recall for a 2001 Ford Taurus for a DPFE. Thanks.
