Putty and sand paper

Where do you guys buy your sand paper and putty? My hobby store really sucks and does not carry putty. Do you buy these at Home Depot or Lowes? What kind of sand paper do you recomment as basic necessities? Thanks

Re: Putty and sand paper

i go to a autobody supply store and buy
3m wet or dry sandpaper 1000 girt and up
most hobby shops on long island are kind of
stupid, meaning there only into r/c cars or
air plane, boats inorder to get the stuff you
need you have to shop around and find a
hobby shop into model trains they always
have the goods. the r/c shops really dont
care about modeling suplies

Re: Putty and sand paper

i just did my first mods with putty. i used bondo glazing putty. i havn't had any probles with it. it isn't for anything deep. but it isn't too difficult to sand.

K-mart and Wal-Mart sell 3m wet dry in 600,1000,1500 and 2000 grit in the Automotive section. Go to any hardware store or Home Depot style stores and get some 320,400 and 600 for prep work before painting(make sure it is wet/dry).
