Talking Time to buy a new car...opinions!

well, its that time again, feel like a nice sports car (turboed preferably)

so let's say i give you 20 grand (canadian which is prob like 16-17 grand american nowadays?) what car would you buy? it could be 20 grand flat or you could buy a 5 grand car and spend the rest on mods? lol gimme some feedback, this is what i've come up with

1994 supra TT
2002 subaru wrx
1993 rx-7
1990 nissan 300zx TT or 240sx sr20det swap
1995 3000gt sl
1998 eclipse gsx

Well I would get a BMW E36 M3 for like around 15grand give or take and spend the rest on mods. But thats just me. Also I agree with youngVR4 get the VR4. If you can find a TT supra for under 20grand then you should be able to find a VR4 for also. Maybe you just need to look harder. I mean a Supra and Rx-7 are so much harder to find.

you'd be surprised, up here in canada we were only just recently (few years ago) introduced to the first ever mitsubishi dealerships, so the 3000gt's and the older eclipses were never actually "in" canada, they had to be brought up from usa, only the new galants, eclipses, lancers, etc are available and the others are 'imports' if you wish from usa

there are a lot of supras, good prices in my mind as well up here, rx-7s a little more hard to come by, and ya the m3's could be very fast with some mods (not sayin it isnt as it is stock!)

Chevy Sprint and a Merkur are good choices....

Both came Turbo trim, Both can be had for about $63 or a case of beer.

Re: Time to buy a new car...opinions!

After all these years in T.O, i have only came across two 3000gt's, and neither were VR4's. Rx7's, there's one down the street, but never seen them much either. I'd take an RX7 though if I could find a clean one..

I'd say either 300ZXTT, Supra TT or RX-7. In that order.

EDIT: My reasoning
1)the 300ZXTT is heavy, but pretty damn fast and sexy looking IMO.
2)The RX-7 looks awesome, but it has REALLY poor mileage since the intake/exhaust fumes mix...so its not too practical, BUT its a rotary so...
3)the Supra probably has the largest aftermarket out of all your options, simply because its a Supra. I ranked it 3rd because its not really unique anymore.

Y don't u save up a few more grand............talk to motorex.........and inquire about a R32(late 80's/early 90's)

I'm not saying the GTR model, those run for almost 30g, but see how much the GT-S's are selling for.RWD Single Turbo, and 250HP i believe.I believe motorex quoted me something like 19g's.

ya i would love a gtr, i live in canada so we don't have to go through motorex like you americans do, the imported car HAS to be 15 years old which kinda sucks, but at least we don't have to pay the legalization fees! i could prob pick a decent one up for 20 grand, but the insurance is the killer!!

Dude that car has got about $12K atleast under the hood. I'd estimate that car to atleast be in the 11's. Best of all it's going for less then $10K. To be honest it might be a little too fast for you. I know it would be too fast for me. It's gotta be up there trap speed wise. No one expects to be smoked by a Galant. Those are VERY rare cars. They only made a thousand of them. It's definitely a sleeper.

Well that guy wants $7,000 o.b.o. for that Galant VR4. That's dirt cheap IMO.

Re: Time to buy a new car...opinions!

I agrree with the one dude get a 1995 Bmw M3. stay away from the newer ones though there a tad heavy. Import turbo cars arent the most polite machines lol. If your skil level isnt that high your not gonna get the full potential out of them. Plus nothing beats an Inline 6. Oh and I love supras but idk if you can find a decent one for 17 grand thats a TT witih less then 90k miles. And 98 Gsx's are uncomfortable common cars. And youde still be paying around 12 grand for one. 3000Gt's handle like shit period. 240sx are cool there just again kinda common looking now. and 300zx tt is more of a touring car. Like a vette. So if your the laid back type that just wants a powerfull car thats a cruiser go for that. Its not very nimble.
