Re: increasing hp 7-15

This link explains it, and mentions the resistor needed.

I purchased something from Next Level Performance that does the same thing and cost a thousand time more. Didn't notice any difference.

Re: increasing hp 7-15

I guess making engines run rich is the way to go nowadays. If it runs rich without changing air flow with the fuel flow you actually lose hp.
Also if you buy something that increases your hp from say 150 - 160 it doesnt mean your gonna notice it , feel any difference or be any faster. When you lean/rich the fuel it takes in you notice that more than a real 10hp boost. People buy what they notice and can be fooled into thinking it works benificially. Be careful when playing with rich fuel injection , it costs you carboned or destroyed sparked plugs and ruins your fuel economy.
You can tell if CAI or Exhaust helps hp+ gains by testing (before then after) your fuel economy , if the engine breaths better it should use less gas to make hp. My big trick , try to increase torque more than hp for nicer take offs , torque converter , line pressure increasers and flywheels(and underdrive pulleys) help torque gains. Theres more to it than that as well. If you like fuel economy and high speed travel then concentrate on the hp gains.
High stall torque converters make your fuel economy go bye bye as well but the flywheel and underdrive pullies seem to be fine in the fuel economy area. lol hope that helps

Re: increasing hp 7-15

dont waste your time or money, like you said you can get some from radio shake for less. But even if you did that it wouldnt be worth the gas money to get to radio shake and then to put it into you car. go out and get exhuast or and intake or something like that.

Re: increasing hp 7-15

At least this junk box I have can be turned off without popping the hood and pulling out a resistor. If it does anything, I'll just turn it on if I want to race someone. I only got about 5-7 mpg when it was on all the time.
I'm guess wesw02 is looking for just mod sites, or maybe performance sites. Here's a few on my favorites list.

I've found this one helpful in CAI instructions.

Re: increasing hp 7-15

My jet PCM does the rich fuel thing too as long as my emission sensors think that every thing is ok it boosts up air consumption to match. Otherwise my engine is sluggish and behaves differently everytime i giver throttle with the check engine light on. It also gives me tighter transmission lines that result in the car making better take off times and response times with the throttle.

Re: increasing hp 7-15

The IAT resistor mod is crap. Don't waste your time or money on it. Your engine computer learns the values as you drive and after about 100 miles, it has already adjusted your fuel tables back to normal, making the resistor completely useless.
