Re: Transmission swap.

T-56 6spd out of a 4th gen Camaro! DOnt get a t-5 (3rd gen 5 sps) They wont hold up.. Theres been a lot of discussion over doing a t-56 swap in the forums.. Ive never done it, but as far as I know, its a pretty straight forward swap

Re: Transmission swap.

okay the bellhousing is GM PN#12523310 as the T56 mounts the clutch slave cylinder differently so this bellhousing is needed(to accomadate the pull type clutch instead of the push type)Speaking of the pull type clutch, it requires a specific release fork PN#12523312.Getting the fork wont be a problem but the pivot is another story, and the pivot doesnt have its own PN so it really only came with the tranny. You can call 4 speeds by Darrell @ 1-800-365-1102 and he should have plenty of those pivot balls in stock. As for the slave cylinder and actuating assembly the PN#12557509 The main difference between these and the 3rd gen is the length and the way it is mounted. For the Tranny crossmember u can order one from SPD dont have a specific PN# for that but just call them and theyll know what u need the #(914) 623 4389. For the shifter u will need to enlarge the shifter opening since the T56 shifter is mounted farther rearward than a T5. And Also the speedometer on the T56 has a sending unit for a electronic speedometer, only if u have a 90 or newer camaro those already have a elecrtic speedo.hehehe. The only thing u can do is have the tail housing modified for a cable type speedo or purchase an electric speedometer such as Auto Meter. The original torque arm and driveshaft will bolt right up no shortening needed.

about the crossmember for this swap, i have seen several websites that have built rear crossmembers specifically for this kind of swap. i'd be happy to find some links if u want them...

Re: Transmission swap.

Yeah SPD makes them specifically for the swap too they just dont list a part number, but if u call them they are a small race shop and theyll have it for sure. I would also recommend a hurst shifter because obviouslyu your old shifter wont bolt up the PN#3915060

Re: Transmission swap.
