Exclamation Need fast advice on buying an engine!!!!

K well i found a guy that will sell me a B18 '97 GSR block with a B16 '00 Si head. he said he will sell it for 1800. now to start with im not sure if this is a good combo. should it be the other way around. or is this what you may call the left overs from a "Frankenstein" swap. Now here is another thing about the deal. for 1800 he will only get me the engine and the tranny. no ecu, axles and shift linkage. im gonna have to do some salvaging of my own to get the rest. although he did mentioned for 2200 he might be able to get me the complete set. so please let me know your comments if this is a good deal and go for it. now i may not be swaping it my engine the very next day or week. i plan on taking my time and maybe rebuild it. but again let me know asap if this is a good opportunity. thanx.

Forget it. It sounds like hes trying to get rid of a failed Hybrid project. (LS/VTEC)
For that kind of money I would want a low milage running engine with the axles and shift linkages.
Dont buy it, I can only see it giving you trouble.

B18C1 block works fine with a B18C1 head ... Why did he put a B16A head on it?

There's so many horror stories about the hybrid engines it's scarey. They seem to start off well and run well and then die in the arse. Better off getting an engine that Honda designed - they built it that way for a reason

B16A head + B18C1 block = what people call poor man's Type-R

The B16A head allows for the use of the ITR intake manifold...

DOn't go for it..

Buy a full swap from Sparq and say Sean sent u
