96-97 and 98-01 b18c5 whats the difference

I am just curious whats the difference from a 96-97 b18c5 type r motor compared to a 98-01 b18c5. because on www.totaljdm.com the compression, hp,torque, are all the same just the price is different? so what is the difference between the years?

well, if you did a search, you could probably find a difference. also, if you checked other websites, then maybe you'd find out. www.hmotorsonline.com

They Are Almost Identical. Except For The Redline Being Higher On The Newer Ones.

Re: 96-97 and 98-01 b18c5 whats the difference

there was not 96 b18c5 itr. 97 was the first year of the ITR in the state that had the b18c5. There was a 96 jdm itr, but those don't have the b18c5. Just a little FYI.

Re: 96-97 and 98-01 b18c5 whats the difference

well I couldn't find the article from your link, but if they claim there was a 96 USDM ITR they are wrong. There was a 96 JDM itr, but not a USDM. the us itr was first brought to the us in 97, and is first itr to carry the b18c5. J-spec itr's came with a b18c, and I have herd that the earlier jdm itr's (96 and before) came with a b18c3, but I don't know wheather or not that is true. But that is becide the point. The point is there never was a 96 usdm itr. Or any itr in 96 that came with a b18c5! They must be mistaken, or you read the article wrong.

If it is jdm then it wouldnt have a b18c5 in it!!!!!!! the first thread stated the difference between the 96-97, and 98-01 b18c5! The b18c5 only came in the usdm itr. therefore you aren't making any sence. you say b18c5, then u say it is jdm not usdm! The jdm itr's came with a b18c, with no 5 after the c, and I have heard that the 96 and earlier came with a b18c3. Non the less neither of those are a b18c5!
