b16 questions

ok, hopefully in the next few months i'll be getting a crx (getting rid of my slushbox accord). i've been doing alot of research online, in magazines and have been listening to what people have been saying in these forums and from personal or second hand experiences. at first, i was hype over doing an ls/vtec. then i thought about spending the extra money and doing a crvtec (extra money for the block) because it would give me more torque. but one day i came across this website http://www.hondastyle.com/news/wmview.php?ArtID=33 and it gave me some insight on the ls/vtec and the crvtec (talking about how unreliable this combination is). so i think i've made up my mind (unless someone can show me otherwise) into just getting the b16. now my question is this, what would i have to do to achieve b20-like torque? that website said that for the price of the ls/vtec i could bore my cylindars to 86mm w/ forged rods and pistons, 12.5:1 c/r and a b17a crank. because i would be going turbo, that c/r would be way too high. now the biggest difference i know between the b20 and the b16 (besides non-vtec vs. v-tec, 2.0L vs. 1.6, 1.58?r/s vs. 1.74 r/s) is the 84mm bore vs. 81?mm bore. i'm wondering if boring and resleeving the cylindars to 84mm would be enough to give me b20-like torque. any help would be greatly appreciated.

one of my best friends is looking into getting a new eclipse and supercharging it and he said that now they have it running 11's, so i'm basically trying to make sure i can keep up, but preferably beat him.

Re: b16 questions

i would say that since you are going to go turbo, dont worry about boring out the motor, and instead just strengthen the internals until you can reach the boost that achieves the numbers you are looking for. reaching 11's is going to be very expensive with that car, but i have heard of it being done. raising the boost is the fastest way to raise the torque, but having a 1.6l motor is always going to put you at a disadvantage.

lsvtecs and crvtecs are as reliable as you build it. if you spend the money it will be reliable if not then it wont be.

if you want b20 like torque i would bore it and stroke it. i saw this article in a magazine where they stroked a b16 with an ls crank and pretty much kept it stock bore and got 150ftlbs of torque, and if you bore it then you will only get more tq but if you plan on boosting high psi then i wouldnt bore more then 83mm and i would keep compression at 9.5. then boost it and tune it right and keep turning up the boost till you get the desired hp. but of course building the block and head to handle to high hp

with the ls crank, do you know what the r/s ratio was? because if it is producing numbers like that, then that is something that i would be willing to try. do you also know what the displacement turned out to be? if you could find this article for me, i would greatly appreciate it.
