Re: CRX performance enhancements

How old are you right now? Also, putting a h22 into our cars isn't that easy (i dont believe anyone actually has a motor mount kit for this) and if so it will be front heavy from what I have heard, in theory causing understeer. There are a few people who have put a h22 into a CRX but they maily use those for drag. If you are into road racing (not just a straight away) I wouldn't suggest a h22.

Re: CRX performance enhancements

ya, from what I hear the H22 requires some cutting and stuff to make it fit in the ef engine compartment, not a good thing for a first swap I would imagine. I think with the handlings, its less the weight of the h22 that makes it poor for road racing (or autoX or whatever besides drag) its the angle it sits in engine compartment does not balance well or something....

Re: CRX performance enhancements

i would start slowly with engines. Upgrade to a d16 then go to b18 then go on from there i guess.

Most all of them "plan to buy when I get money" ideas never pan out. that age thing is funny though.

Yeah I don't know how many people we get on here that are like "well I have an unlimited amount of funds" and blah blah blah. If I had an unlimited amount of funs I know a 4g wouldn't be the first car on my list, lol.

Re: CRX performance enhancements

This is like the 10th thread about the H22a swap. Handling isnt that bad as people say, I am taking my knowledge from 2point2. Yes h22a is better for the drag strip, but still, even on the street an h22a would whoop a b18 or b16. The weight of the motor, it only being 100 extra pounds means nothing whatsoever. People tend to exaggerate on the bad sides of this motor, but from everyones swap i've seen... IF you spend your time and patient with this, it always turns out good. On the other hand, slop it in there in a week or so, you might not be so lucky.

Re: CRX performance enhancements

100 pounds not seem like much, but since its all over the front wheels and all I've heard thats what causes the understeer. Not because of an extra 100 pounds, but because where the weight is placed.

I've never had any experience with this swap in a 4g...this is just what I have picked up in almost a year of being here.

Re: CRX performance enhancements

Heres what 2point2 said...
"Bud, don't beleive the hype. The h22 is just a chubby GSR motor. When i did the math I ended up adding about 40-60lbs more then a b18c on the front. Big deal. Engine placement has alot to do with it as well, since the engine is as far back as i can get it then the front wont feel the extra weight as much..

Yah, I look up to him as a god almost lol.
