b16 or LS

I own a 91 CRX Si which I plan on doing a swap pretty soon. problem is that I don't know which engine to choose between the LS or the B16. I'm looking for better 1/4 mile times and I'm going for all-motor set-up. I also heard that the LS/VTEC would haul a** but I also heard from many people that is not a reliable set-up.Idrive this car everyday and I plan on going to 2hr trips with it so it has to stay as reliable as possible. Thanks for your help.

I'm looking for maybe low 14's or hight 13's by the way

Re: b16 or LS

If I had the choice of either a b18b or a b16a I would choose the b18b...however if I ever get a swap I probably won't have enough for the b18b, and would get the b16. Just don't ask Ami (ladynredsi) cuz she'll tell you to get a d16y8, lol.

No.

Seriously man, this EXACT SAME QUESTION is asked like at least once a month. Do some reading.

OK first of all you said the h22 is cheaper (not cheeper) than the b18c5 and from the prices you listed (h22 $4500...b18c5 $3500) it showed the b18c5 was cheaper. Also, I don't know where you're getting your hp numbers from but they are off. Here is the specs quoted from the FAQ thread at the top of this forum

Re: b16 or LS

The H22a is only 200 extra pounds in the front from the stock motor, and 100 extra pounds from a b series engine. It is hard to install, takes lots of time and patience. I dont know about the B18c, but I know the H22a pumps out atleast 200hp if not 215hp. 163lbs of torque is about right, its a monster, tons of torque! I plan on doing this swap by the end of the summer, then boost it by christmas. B18c is WAY out of my price range, but im going to hop up a h22a with type s everything, pull 300hp with a turbo'd h22a and i quit life and im happy :-D.

Re: b16 or LS

163 lb/ft of torque is a lot of torque...in N/A 4cyl Honda talk, lol. The h23 has 154 or something like that, so the h22 isn't too far ahead.

Thats not the point, I can afford an H22a boosted, not a b18c boosted. I've always wanted a boosted H22a, so go flame some more but whatever. I dont want to go with the crowd getting a B18c. My B16a came with my crx when I bought it, I got it for a good price though.

Re: b16 or LS

go with the tried and trued b16, you can do the entire swap USDM motor for less than a grand, less than two grand if you go JDM. Sure its common but it works.
