not sure if its the same problem we had with our 98 windstar. Light would stay on and door ajar light on dash stayed lit. There is a 45 minute timer that shuts off the light to save the battery life in this vehicle. I read it in the manual. However, after reading some of the forums in this sight, it was recommended to spray WD40 on the rear door hatch hinges. There is one on each side of the hatch and they are black springy things. try it. It may work. It did for us. twice.
