2005 C6 Corvette vs. 2004 C5 Corvette ZO6

So since nothing could possibly hang with a Corvette (I doubt that, but this seems to be your opinions) let's pit Corvette against Corvette.

Which would you rather have?
Which is better, which offers the best combination of styling and performance?

2005 C6 Corvette
6.0L 8-Cylinder
400HP@6000RPM
400TQ@4400RPM
Estimated Base Retail Price- $47,000

vs.

2004 C5 Corvette ZO6
5.7L 8-Cylinder
405HP@6000RPM
400TQ@4800RPM
Base Retail Price- $52,185

Z06.

Slightly faster. Cheaper. Looks better IMO. Huge amount of street cred.

Re: 2005 C6 Corvette vs. 2004 C5 Corvette ZO6

I'd asume the new base C6 will not have as much performance (in other areas since HP is about the same) as the current Z06... that would really piss off a lot of people that drop the extra dough on the true performance corvette, only to have the next generation base model top it... but wait til the C6 Z06 or whatever they will call it comes out.
BTW, what is your problem with Corvettes.

C6- looks better, new (better) engine, proper interior, more practical, more "European" than ever before...

I have no problems with Corvettes, I just don't think it's the god almighty of sports cars, not saying you do either. Believe me I have much respect for the Corvette platform.

Ew, hate with a passion the new corvette, mostly i hate the front end, ugh. Nice car, but the C5 to me looks much better(and 5 more hp).

The more I see of the C6 - the more I like it. However, I think the Z06 is still going to be the faster model for the short term.

Re: 2005 C6 Corvette vs. 2004 C5 Corvette ZO6

I like the Z06 all around better. I can't really say who'd win the race because I haven't driven both cars. It'd probably be close though.

Funny how they made America's sports car more European. It almost looks asian though.. I hate those ugly ass headlights. They butchered the NSX with them too.

Couldnt have said it better myself. As far as performance goes, the Z06 would tear apart the C6 on the track... Until the Z06 comes out in 06' with the supposed 500+ HP, and an insanely predicted 1.01-1.1g on the skidpad.. (WOW would I like to see that..) I dont think you will see the improvements in the performance as much. Yet if the difference between the 355(?)HP C5 Vette, compared to the C6 isnt a sign of whats to come.. I dont know what is.

I would say the new C6 offers a better all in all package when compared to the C5 Z06. Overall performance wise from what we know the Z06 has the edge, and that is about as far as its edge goes IMO. As far as everything else; the C6 does it better. Interior improvements along with aparant improvements in fit and finish throughout will attract buyer's the C5 never could. Overall the C6 is and should be the better car.

Re: 2005 C6 Corvette vs. 2004 C5 Corvette ZO6

i would take the c6 over the c5 zo6. the z06 might be a little bit faster but the c6 does have a more of a european flare and in my eyes, that is a big plus. can't wait to see what the c6 zo6 can do.

I'd take the Z06, Partially because I like the look's of it better then the new Corvette.

Re: 2005 C6 Corvette vs. 2004 C5 Corvette ZO6

The C6 is lighter and 5hp is not going to make the Z06 faster.

Re: 2005 C6 Corvette vs. 2004 C5 Corvette ZO6

According to Chevy and just about every magazine, the C5 Z06 is faster than the C6 Z51. The C5 Z06 is lighter, and it has a more aggressively tuned suspension and chassis. Plus the LS6 was underrated pretty badly, I've heard.
