ignition switch stuck...86 trooper

went to start the new used trooper today and the key wont turn. Fits in the switch fine. Key works enough to unlock the steering but wont go any farther. Locksmith said to call a mechanic (over the phone). Any one seen anything similar.

Discovered and fixed the problem, just a bad lock cylinder. Can be a real bear to remove if it's not unlocked. Had to drill out the lock and modify the steering wheel lock mech but now a screwdriver starts vehicle easily until the new part arrives and installs (easily).
