I've LOST a few HORSES on my engine....

Apparently my engine is having a bit of trouble...It starts fine and sounds O.K. but it takes me longer to get the car rolling. Its actually harder to go up hills and it seems as if I've lost a few horses on my engine. What could it be?

First thing to do is make sure you're up on all the required "preventative" maintenance. Then clean inside the throttle body and plate. That can have a huge effect on performance. If you do these and still no improvement, I've noticed a front-end alignment will have an effect on how much stress the engine is under. This happens to mine when it's time for an alignment. I'll notice front wheel noise, harder shifting, and the engine seems to work harder, especially up hills. Also could be wheel balance. Your vehicle is a finely-tuned piece of technological wizardry and everything comes into play with everything else.

Could be the Mass Air Flow sensor (maf). Not too hard to change.

cmore.. im assuming you have a 4.0 v6, theres a crazy looking short fat tube thing abotu the size of a football i guess in the lower left if youre facing your motor.. theres a belt looking clamp holding it together, unclamp it and it should be right there...

but for future ref. try to start a new thread instead of robbing one if its off topic
