2004 with no steering wheel lock

Just bought a brand new 2004 Z71 extended cab, traded in my 1994 Z71 after 10 years of great service. One odd thing with the new truck. The steering wheel does not lock after you remove the key. Chevy has put a lot of new electronic theft prevention gizmo's, but i'm surprised by the lack of a wheel lock. Anyone else experience this?

come to think of it, mine doesn't lock either (04). never really thought anything of it till i read your post. must be normal??

Yea, I have an '02, like a fool actually took it in thinking something was wrong, the guy wrote it up, I got a call 2 hrs later, they dont put the column locks anymore. He said the logic was there was so much damage being done by theives that it was not much of a deterent anyway.
