TT Hardwire Help

So I was trying to install my Apexi pen-style tt yesterday and ran into some problems. I BELIEVE I found the ignition harness, but I couldn't find a plastic "harness" persay, I just found the properly colored wires inside a taped bundle. So, I tapped the proper colors, or so I think: 12v+ (the big white ignition wire) to the power wire, the accessory (blue black) to the blue wire on the tt, and the black/white ignition 1 wire to the green wire on the tt. I also grounded the tt (not in the ecu where recommended, but I figured that this shouldn't matter.)

Then I tried testing to see if it powered up. Nothing. Not even a blink from the display. There are a couple of things that come to mind that could be wrong:

1) Do I HAVE to have the tt wired to the parking brake to get any power or display out of it? I didn't wire it up to the parking brake because I wasn't wure why it wasn't working and didn't feel like ripping my car apart more to install a defective unit.

2) I also didn't have it wired to the O2 sensor. My O2 sensor is bad anyway, but I'm wondering if it needs some kind of signal from the O2 sensor to work at all.

3) maybe my wire taps weren't getting all the way through the wires? I cut away a piece of the 12v+ power wire to make sure I got a good connection there. But still no sign of life from the display.

These are the only things that come to mind that could be wrong. Anyone have any tips? Or should I assume this thing is busted and cut my losses before wasting more time and energy reinstalling (Damn ebay!)

Re: TT Hardwire Help

I think you should do it before the taped part, cause when I installed my start button it did not work there but I could have been tapping the wrong wires.
If you look at the wires and then follow them up to the steering wheel you should see a harness that plugs into the ignition. To see the harness you have to take the cover on the back of the steering wheel off, I think there are two screws. Then you will see the harness.

Re: TT Hardwire Help

It will work without the parking brake and o2 sensor most likely. All you need is ignition, accessory, power, and ground.
