A built 200-r4 like they have in the GN's. A built 200-r4 is ALOT stronger than a 700-r4 and they take less power to turn.

Re: What tranny is better for my car

yea the turbo 350 is a good choice if your gonna race, but im sure he would like an overdrive tranny for highway driving, i would say a 700-r4 or like hypsi said, a 200-r4

Re: What tranny is better for my car

yeah, my 700R4 only cost me 550?? in parts, and 200 in labor, (get to know a tranny guy) so 750 bucks total, and im totally confident of putting a 450-500 hp street motor in front of it. full B&M rebuild kit with stage two shift kit, corvette 1st to 2nd servo, and the tricks that my trans guy knows. put it all together with a 2800 rpm stall converter with kevlar lockup clutch, methinks shes tough enough for what ill be using her for.

Re: What tranny is better for my car

Ya to hell with those first 3 transmissions. The 700r4 is a good transmission and if you have a good one built it will take lots of abuse. Hell mine has over 260k kms on it and still shifts great and it takes an ass kicking.

Also as far as I know the 700r4 is the only transmission that would just slide in there no problem. The others might require a custom driveshaft and/or crossmember work.

Id go on ebay and get a built 700R4 with a 3 year warranty. They have good trannys on there if you get them from a reliable company. All you have to do is check out what they have.
