RS to GS Engine Swap

Alright as you already know i got the crapy 420A engine and i am going to put an GS in and turbo it allready have the turbo etc. Just wanna know what i would need to swap a 4G63 Engine into a RS and how much it would cost... and iv already read most of the threads on the RS/GS to an GST engine swaps. Iv read over and over to just buy a new car but insurance will more then likly screw me over. And this might be a dumb ass question to ask but would anyone know any good junk yards in South FL or even anywhere in FL.

Re: RS to GS Engine Swap

The RS and GS both have the exact same engine, the 420A. Therefore, my question is: Why are you going to swap the SAME engine into your RS and then turbo it? Why not just turbo your RS?

Re: RS to GS Engine Swap

First you said you wanted to turbo a 420A (RS/GS), then you asked about a 4G63 swap... which one do you want to do?

Neither of them are cost effective, and you won't even save money with lower insurance factored in. You can do a relatively cheap turbo 420A like EclipseRST did, compared to the kits that you can buy.

Re: RS to GS Engine Swap

the 420A and The 4G63 Are deffly not the same engine the 420A is a Chrysler engine also read that 4G63 engine has more potental then the 420A. And i do not want to buy a new car i got a bomex body kit on my RS and also blue underbody kit so i dont want to buy a new car engine swap seems to be best to me

Re: RS to GS Engine Swap

no i never said i wanted to turbo a 420A engine cause i can i know i can if i want. I want to Turbo a GS engine all i want to know is what i would need to do it not worryed about money hell id like to find a GST engine and swap it but its kinda hard to find a wrecked GST with everything still in it. that and i dont want down time im just gunna swap a 420A with a 4G63 Non Turbo and then make a GST later and sorry for not maken it more clear kinda stoned.

Re: RS to GS Engine Swap

If you don't find all the information you need in the sticky thread about turboing an RS/GS, then ask a specific question.

that is the most rediculous idea ever... seeing you practically need to cut off the front end of the GS and swap it with the front end of the RS... its going to cost you atleast 7 grand just for all the parts and labor if you get a good deal!!! and all that money and still no turbo... you might as well just put the turbo motor in if your goin to do the swap anyways!

This is really confusing. I think this might clear up what M4JINrs is talking about. The GS and RS have the same engines (420A). The 4g63 is the engine that comes with the turbo eclipse's (GS-T, GSX). So shouldnt the 4g63 already have a turbo on it?

Another thing, M4JINrs, try thinking about what you want to ask. Dont just open the reply page and start typing. Please think about your question, and submit it in a clear form. Im not trying to be a bitch, but your posts give me headaches.

no he wasnt talking about the 2nd gen GS's... he was getting a 1st gen GS N/A motor and is goin to put it into a 2nd gen RS!!!

and M4JINrs well why dont you just turbo the 420a... its going to cost a lot less by turboing it than it would to swap the motor! anyways, its your decision i am just trying to help you out so you know what your dealing with... also any motor swap can be made possible but all it takes is money!!!
