Website and Webspace

I was looking to create myself a website for personal use. I was wondering if any of you have any insight on what sites are reliable yet fairly inexpensive. I have checked out www.godaddy.com but I am still looking for others. Please dont just tell me to do a google search, because I am not imcompetant. Most sites I have found for other things do not just come up when you do a google search. This would be of great help to me. Thanks guys.

Re: Website and Webspace

what type of site are you trying to run? I have a lot of my friends sites hosted on my personal webserver in my house. they are under a /hosted/ directory so http://blacklinux.com/hosted/name/
my friends then buy a domain name and point it to that URL using a redirect DNS entry in the DNS manager provided by their registrar. for example psykonet.org that is actually blacklinux.com/hosted/psykonet/ but when you put it in a web browser all you see is psykonet.org. The only thing that I really need to set up is FTP access and user accounts so that they can update there pages whenever they want. Right now they have to e-mail them to me and I put them in the directory. f you have a simple static page, I can throw it in a directory for you very easily. But if you require FTP access and will be frequently changing your page then that is a different story. Just let me know if I can help you out at all.
