It's a 911 base model so it will be in 911 til they put them on sale. Then you will maybe get your Carrera GT forum.

Sorry,
But it is based off the original 911 chassis. Porsche just keeps improving and developing, so they keep changing the Type numbers.
Where do you think the 968 came from?

No, I don't believe the Carrera GT is based on the (996) 911. They may have the same chassis-building techniques, but they don't share parts. They also have completely different engines.

I tell you what...you need to get yourself to the library.

Porsche has improved and developed the 911 over the last 30+ years.

Of course much is new! Porsche just doesn't keep making the engines bigger by boring them out. The 911 family has had...hmmmm
I think three different engine changes. I'm talking about a new engine put in, not just increasing the size. Suspension has also had three upgrades, as in redesign. But, it all comes from the 911 base model...period!

By the way, the 911 is actually based off the 356 model. But the 356 isn't even a Porsche original design. The 356 comes from the VW project.

So, you are going to tell me you don't think that the Carrera GT is based off the 911 base model. Check the facts and then come back and correct me...

Heck, if this wasn't the Net I'd bet a pitcher of beer on this...
