Ok. Thats a strange bet for the guy in the beetle to make. His car is a low 16 seconds at best in the quarter. If the 3000 is the SL he'll be a second quicker and if its the VR4 its a case of to many drugs

In either case the 3000 will quickly grab a lead and extend it for the length of the race.

Lol! Probably... Either that or the guy that owns it is an idiot... But who would mod out a beetle? O.o Anyways, tell your bud to place the bet under the condition that the beetle is stock... You can't really make a fair bet if the other guy is lying to you. And if it is stock, your friend should have no problem beating him

hey guys i got more info on my friend.the beetle is mildly modified. My friends car is a base modle 300GT.The guy wit the beetle said he can run high 14s.the guy with the beetle is alowing my friend to do a few mods.like i said he's geting a stage 3 clutch and lightened flywheel.he's also got a good price fo a strait pipe.the turbo beetle also has a chip and some bolt on's.i don't know but i think it's going to be a close race.I would hate to see my friend lose.the guy with the beetle is really cocky and thinks his beetle can beet any one and anything.all my friend has to do is wait for the parts and install them, break in the clutch and off he go's!

Re: 3000GT vs. Turbo Beetle help!

What year base model? If it's a 91-96 he is still in good shape, if 97+ he isn't in too good of shape. A testpipe replacing the cat will help a bit, as will the lightened flywheel. Boltons on a turbo car can really make a difference, you happen to know which? Also, my quick .02 about chips...there are some that are a few hundred and good, few might be a better word... Then they are 10s of thousands that are cheap resistors advertised as chips, that lie to the ECU about the ambient temp, so the ECU dumps more fuel, and you run richer...these don't help you at all.

Your 1996 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 is the 92nd out of the 315 that were made that year. Only 21 of which are exactly identical.

I don't know if they want to race on the highway but it would be a great advantage. There are different stages in clutchs u can get.some are for racing and some for street. There are many combinations of clutchs u can get out in the market. If your planing on getting a clutch i recomend getting a lightened flywheel with it too it makes a great combination and you'll defenitly feel the difference. The car is a Base moble 1994 3000GT.The car just got a new trany and polished heads. It's been siting in the garage for a few months. He takes it out once every few weeks.the car doesn't have that many miles on it too.I think the turbo beetle in running 9psi of boost. Is this the pressure of air being forced in the car?

Re: 3000GT vs. Turbo Beetle help!

LOL The guy with the beetle kinda reminds me of this guy at my school that drives a yellow beetle. He speeds through the school parking lot acting like he owns the damn place (LMFAO). Last year, someone serran wrapped his car, stuck a fish on his antenna, wrote "Beetles are for girls," and parked his car in the middle of a parking lot.

Re: 3000GT vs. Turbo Beetle help!

yeah but think about a sleeper beetle racing for 500 bucks everytime... You could make yourself a pretty penny doing that.

Lol! Yeah, but no matter how fast it is, it's still a Beetle, and people would laugh at you while you're speeding away.
