Re: insurance?

Geez, you sure post alot of questions. Well, if you tell them, then it might increase. If you don't, then it will stay the same. It depends on the insurance company. Call them and ask if they insure modifications as well. I've heard that most insurance companies won't give you money for mods made to the car if it is totalled.

it won't affect insurance, and insurance doens't cover them for theft. And if the car is wrecked, you will get blue book value, even if you added expensive mods.

Re: insurance?

Some insurance companies void the insurance if you have any mods....so reporting it to some of them means bye bye policy.

And why downpipes, why not Intake, Race Headers, Hondata. You'll get the best gains from that combo.

No, I meant just call to see if they do cover mods, not to tell them that you are making mods. I've heard from a guy who works at the Maryland insurance administration that some insurance companies do cover mods. Some raise the premium you pay if you have mods and others just cover it without raising premiums. It just depends on the company.

So it might be a risk just asking but you can call other insurance companies that you don't currently have to see what they do concerning mods.

Re: insurance?

Lucky bastards. Over here 99% of insurance companies say any modification that isn't OEM or for safety purposes = bye bye insurance. Even factory lip kits because they "modify the manufacturers original aerodynamic contours."

Sucks.

Re: insurance?

I have another question about insurance. If I put my wife as the only driver on a RSX but I am the one driving it, if I wreck it will they still cover it. It would be full coverage. The reason I ask is cause my wife has no tickets or wrecks at all and I have a few tickets. The difference would most likely be over $100 a month.

Re: insurance?

If you get reported you could get in trouble for fraud. Just list yourself as an occasional.

Put your wife as the primary driver and you as an additional or occasional or whatever. The rate on the insurance will be primarily based on her record then, not yours.

That's what we just did with my insurance only we put my mom as the primary and me as an additional driver. Lowered the rate a whole bunch considering I'm a 16 year old guy.

Re: insurance?

mine was gonna be $1,700 every 6 months for full coverage and close to $700 for liability only. and my parents paid for my rsx so i have to pay for the insurance, which means i can only afford liability only. and that officially scares the shit out of me.
