Need info on hatch stuff!

Ok so a friend of mine (a chick) wants a new car. She likes the looks of the 88-91 2 door civic hatchback ya know. Shes not into all pimpin stuff out or anything, she wants something stock, and clean, and a good engine. She's left it up to me to find her a car for her to buy. I own a CRX, and know nothing about hatchbacks. Right now she has a buick that gets 15 miles to the gallon, and she wants a honda because shes a student and everything and needs better gas milage, and needs to lug a few people around too. What do I need to look for and whats the best place to search around? It has to be in my local area which is here in Maryland. How much would a stock civic 2 door hatch, with low miles on the engine, and a CLEAN interior go for? Interior is a must and engine is a must. Body work can vary, because I offered to do a body job on it and give it a fresh spray.So can you hatch guys help me out here?

The crx is in the same as the hatch really. About $900-2000 depends on milage and what it looks like. Check the oil make sure its not dark black or silvery flakes in it. Drive it see how it feels. Should be just about the same as your rex.
