04 accord stock headunit

im planning on installing my subs soon in my 04 accord coupe. i want to use the stock headunit because it is built in and would be hard to use an aftermarket headunit. could anyone tell me if there is a preamp output on my car. if not, then what options would i have to install an amp. thanks

04 Accord Stock Head Unit

I am also in the process of installing subs in my '04 Accord. Honda tells me that there are no RCA outputs behind the head unit for an amp to be connected. Reputable sources (tweeter, boomer McCloud) tell me that this is common, and they typically use a high-to-low converter. You tap into the speaker wires and this small $30 device converts the signal to a low frequency RCA output. You can get the converter at any car-audio store.
I plan to tap into my rear speakers from the trunk using t-taps. It seems relatively easy. To power my amp though, I assume I'll have to get behind the head unit. I am afraid to remove it as I don't want to scratch any plastic. Please let me know if you have a fool-proof way to get behind the stereo.
Good luck, and please respond. I'd like to get back there ASAP.
