Passenger Power window switch

94 Grand Caravan. Passenger power window switch doesn't seem work. The driver's side switch will operate the passenger window properly, so the motor is OK. How can I check to see if the switch is bad before I order a $65 nonreturnable switch replacement. The original has 5 wires going to it, a set of purple (one has a white stripe), a set of brown (one also has a white stripe), and a single tan wire. Can I jump the wires so I can be sure the switch is bad, or should I just order the switch and hope for the best?
Thanks

Re: Passenger Power window switch

I replaced the switch in my Wife's 91 with the same problem. I cleaned the contacts on the original switch a few times and it work for almost 2 yrs. until the contacts wore out. Replaced the switch eventually and everything's fine now.
