Unknown Engine Shutdown Problem - Help!

I have a 1999 Dodge Intrepid ES 3.2 L with an engine shutdown problem. I can drive the car about 10 miles on the highway before the engine shuts down. When it shutdown feels like it's not getting gas than the engine quits. The engine will turnover but not start and I have full battery power. The "check engine and oil pressure" lights tend to stay one while it's in shutdown mode. Once the engine cools down (approx 30-60 minutes) it will start rough, clear up and drives normal. This process has happened 5 times. We've replaced the central computer and a fuel injector. The engine is getting adequate fuel. The car went in for an oil change about a month before this problem started - there was a small amount of slug build up. The scanner does not produce any codes. Any help to diagnosis the problem would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hey... My Intrepid had the exact same problem... I can guarentee you that your problem is your Clamp Sensor. It's located right near your transmition... I had that replaced while my car was quitting on me and not starting at all (it died once I got to the mechanic) and as soon as it was put in, it it started right up and never had the problem again... Hope I can be some help!!!

Thanks for the response - but we've checked the crank sensor - and that's not it.

Looks like it might have been the fuel pump after all. The pump was getting flow but weak after running for about 20-30 minutes - than it would quit.

My Intrepid kept stalling for no reason and the techs computers could not find the problem, had to replace the crank and the cam sensors to fix the problem. Only one sensor needed to be replaced but the mechanics werent sure so after the first one was replaced and the problem continued then the other was changed and everything was fine. Sorry I cant remember wich one was replaced last, I will have to check my bills. Do not pay someone to replace them, they are very easy to install yourself.

if u have checked the crank sensor and u are sure thats not the problem i would prolly go with the cam sensor check it out see if it helps
