Question 2000 Maxima Belt Replacement

Need help/advice. Need to replace the belts, recently bought the car and prior to purchasing the vehicle I had the car checked out by an inspector/mechanic. He said it was in good shape, but the back belt needed to be replaced. I've done the parts research and can get both belts for under $40 (why not replace both of them). I have been quoted $140 to do the job by local Nissan dealer.

How hard is this to do? First Nissan to own, and unfamiliar with the car.

I also have a 2000GLE.,. my mechanic said the same thing but already my brand new tires are worn down after 20k, new brakes.,knock in the engine., service light on ( guess i have 2 EVAP problems) tail lights went out, and dealership charged me $157 for the belts because there were Nissan belts. All small problems but problems i didnt think i would see after just 4 years. My Dodge Dakota is a 97 and still havent had a problem with it and i "BABY" my maxima more then i do my truck.

Re: 2000 Maxima Belt Replacement

That's funny, I'm having the tires replaced too. I'm taking it to Sears for the tires, belts ($99), and alignment. It needs new brake pads, but I'll just put those on myself. After this I hope no worries for a while. We bought an extended warranty with the car, so hopefully anything else will be covered by that.

Re: 2000 Maxima Belt Replacement

Your knock may be from bad gas - I have read about that on previous posts in the maxima forums.
