Question Gas Mileage

Does somebody knows what gas mileage I can get in the 98 Dakota 2.5L Manual 5 speed?
Because my fuel gauge does not work and I want to use the trip mode to control my gas usage and not to ran out of gas, I just fill up my tank and put the trip mode in zeros.
According with what I read in this forum about this dakota model the gas tank is 16 gallon I just need to know how many miles I can put in the truck before ranning out of gas.

Re: Gas Mileage

I would start with filling up, zeroing the trip odometer, doing 300 miles, and then filling up and seeing how many gallons of gas you have to put in. Then you can figure out how much gas you must have had left in the truck, and then you can figure out about how far you can go safely with one tank of gas.

Re: Gas Mileage

Well, whoa!,
If somethings up with the 2.5, you might not get 300 miles out of it!

Why don't you fix the fuel sender? could just be a loose wire, or bad ground.... just drop the tank and look, but if the guage is just broke, replace it!

Re: Gas Mileage

It should do at least that. My truck was running in an open loop and it would do more than that, and that was while running it into the ground. If it couldn't do 300 miles then I'd say he was idling it all night in between driving days...
