I have a portable 7in widescreen DVD player which says its a 16:9 monitor, but wait! only about 1:85 and 1:78 aspect ratio widescreen movies on it have no black bars, but ones with 2:40 do, yet they say on the cover that they are enhanced for 16:9 screens. according to that they should have no black! I am wondering what the dvd players/tv's would say if they work with 2:40? So im just really confused.

Re: Widescreen 16:9!?!
Right, normal widescreen fits perfectly onto the screen. However, 2:40 (scope) movies are even wider and therefore still require the black bars on the 16:9 screen.

Re: Widescreen 16:9!?!
Get a Toshiba Libretto laptop and play them with an external DVD player. The display is pretty damn long on these =P
