'92 CamaroRS 3.1 6cyl not getting gas.

’92 CamaroRS 3.1 6cyl, the car ran great until a very hot day, did not even come close to overheating, but the check engine light came on, was missing and running a little rough. Came up Code 43. was advised to disconnect battery terminals to reset code and recheck. Still Code 43. Next trip started and ran ok. On the return home it refused to start again. Towed it home in disgrace. No signal from the knock sensor, had to jeri-rig a starter motor switch, and the fuel pump is not pumping. The fuel pump and the alternator are only about 3 months old. I would appreciate any ideas as this is our only car atm and I am getting desperate and frustrated.

Re: '92 CamaroRS 3.1 6cyl not getting gas.

Hey guys any ideas at all?? I am ready to try just about anything. I have been slowly getting this car back into shape after buying it a mess from someone who never appreciated what they had. The engine has always been sound, well up to now anyway.

I appreciate the suggest, unfortunately I had looked it up. I have a manual and have been using it extensively. Sorry about not making that clear in the earlier post. It is difficult to know exactly how much information to provide in the beginning. There is definitely a spark control error. The knock sensor doesn't seem to be working correctly, though testing with a multimeter doesn't show the problem. I have run new 10 gauge wire (to specs) where some had been shorted out to the starter motor, and the knock sensor. I did have someone look at the ECS and tell me it seemed to be working but I'm not sure whether they were right. I am looking for suggestions on what to do to try to find exactly where the problem. I have already replaced parts that apparently were probably working fine. Just not sure what to do next and was hoping someone else might have some ideas.

Re: '92 CamaroRS 3.1 6cyl not getting gas.

The 1992 came with a v-6 O.o ? Holy crap.
Were all the 92's not counted as 25th's ? and stock with the weak 305 ? -Not much on domestic vehicles. X-Import kid.-

Re: '92 CamaroRS 3.1 6cyl not getting gas.

I don't think it did come with a 6 liter, this is a 3.1 liter V6 as I said in the original posting. And no, not all 92's were 25th anniversary models.

The 25th seems to have got some special trim slightly different from my standard Rallye Sports model and some trim and mainly cosmetic changes.

My troublesome beastie is the standard RS the basic model was discontinued by 1992.

The best thing I could tell you is to take it to autozone and have them look at it.

Re: '92 CamaroRS 3.1 6cyl not getting gas.

please dont go to autozone, or pep boys, or any other grease monkey shop (no offence inteded to anyone who works there) but if you need to fix a headlight, or buy some fuzzy dice they are great, but youre looking at an electrical systems problem. please dont go there for this. if you break down and have to have it fixed, go to a repair shop, preferably the dealeship.

from what you are describing, i would say you might have a VATS problem, my IROC acted like that before the wires just plain broke, and shut off the car for good. till i replaced the lock cylender. could be a bad ground on the ESC module, bad power, wire rubthrough, disconnected timing connector. i would say its a problem on the power or ground side of the ESC module, seeing as thats what the code indicated, most likely is a corroded ground, pull the connectors and look for bad connections, then see if the power wire has shorted to ground, killing power to the module.
