defective moisture sensor in windshield

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on what to do with a defective moisture sensor on my 2000 Buick LeSabre Limited windshield? The moisture sensor overrides the intermittent controls and I am unable to use the intermittent cycle at all. During a slight shower my windshield wipers will be cycling extremely fast, and it is driving me crazy. I took the vehicle to the dealership, and they stated that it was a manufacture defect and they stopped putting these sensors on the newer vehicles due to the this problem. I asked them to disconnect the sensor, and they told me that it was not possible, and I would just have to live with it. Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated.
