Cicadas!!!!!!!

alright i'm sitting here at work bored as anything so i figured i would make a thread on Cicadas. The reason i came up with this is because i work in Potomac, Maryland and these damn bugs are sooo loud that i can't even hear the phone ring! it's like we are getting attacked by them or something...i heard on the news last night that this lady was driving with her windows down and one flew in her car, she flipped out and hit a pole. these bugs are taking over... i was just wondering if anybody else has the cicadas as bad as my area does?? does anyone have any crazy stories about these big bugs. what do you think about them? also i heard if you hold their wings they scream!

yeah, we have em in Wisconsin, down in Milwaukee.....but I don't live there anymore. I haven't heard a cidada since I moved up north. I guess they don't like the cooler weather. But, down in Milwaukee, we had an infestation one year in our neighborhood. My cats would catch them and bring them into our kitchen! it was crazy also, i have to say, they are probably the scariest looking bug in the United States, in my opinion

yeah i know they are the ugliest lookin things ever. i can't stand them...i freak out going outside because once they get in your hair it's over, they are stuck in there until they die...GROSS! i just can't stand the noise they make.

I'm up here in Lewistown, PA right now and we have them, they don't bother me though, not the bugs nor the noise.

They taste good though.....

We get cicadas south of Pittsburgh, PA. My cat went to smell one once... just to check it out and see what fell out of the tree, and one of it's legs went up his nose and both he and the bug were freaking out. I thought I was gonna die of laughter.

They are really gross... and don't even get me started on how gross it is when you STEP on one.

They're everywhere here in Kansas, somebody was saying you guys don't get them every year in some parts, that there's a difference between yearly and the ones that come up every 17. If we get double this year we'll be screwed.

I live in cincinnati, this is supposed to be one of the worst places in the us for cicadas....they are all over the place...good news tho, they are easy to catch, and are GREAT fishing bait...the fish always bite when there's a cicada on the end of the hook, if you're a fisher, i suggest you stock up for the next 17 years!! :-D

No cicadas in BC, thank god. I hate the little buggers. I heard they taste like asparagus... this true ray?

yea we got a bunch here too. While workin 5 floors up there are a bunch of cicadas flyin around hittin the windows and clinging on to the other building. Indiana is supposed to be hit the hardest by cicadas

I'm from Cincy as well and they're kind of annoying. They're very loud in my yard and their dead little carcasses are all over the place.
