ZC, D15B, Z6 questions
Hey ya'll...
I tried to do a search on ZC swaps but it wouldn't let me, so i'll bite the bullet, get flamed for posting another one of these threads, and ask. I have a CRX Si but the bastard that I bought the car from put a D15B2 in it, although it does still have MPFI. Maybe 100 HP, if i'm lucky. I'm looking for an easy, no-pain-in-the-ass swap here that will cost me the least possible and require the least work. My ECU, transmission, clutch, A/C compressor, and motor mounts are all new, so I don't want to replace them. I know the ZC is supposedly a bolt-in, no modification swap. Is this true? Would I need any other parts? Could I use my existing intake/exhuast manifolds? I've heard good things about the D15B VTEC and the D16Z6 as well. Are these good, painless swaps? Thanks, help would be appreciated.

The only things you NEED for a ZC swap are a couple extra wires and an '84 accord upper radiator hose. Oh yea, you cant use your Si intake manifold, it wont bolt up. When you order an engine though, it should (unless they say it doesnt) come with the zc intake manifold. Your exhaust manifold will bolt up though. Also, what tranny are you going to end up using? If your using your current one, you'll be fine but if you decide to get a ZC tranny with your engine, you will need to get new axles.

Re: ZC, D15B, Z6 questions
I have a 91 crx si and I'm thinking about the Z6 right now. I know that the 91 si tranny will work on the Z6, but like do I need a z6 fly-wheel or can I use mine? The intake/exhaust manifolds will bolt on the z6 but the ports are 1mm bigger on them. No big deal but you can get them port matched really cheap. I am basically keeping all my old stock parts. When you do the z6 swap you need to run wires to the new coolant temp. sensor and if you keep your stock ecu you need to get a vtec controller. I just bought one of those Apexi V-AFC and wire it to that and your off. Oh yeah, and the one dizzy hole will need to be drilled a little bigger so it'll mount with all 3 bolts.

Re: ZC, D15B, Z6 questions
Sorry, my CRX is an '89.
I would try to use my current transmission if possible. I want to replace as few parts as I can, because most of the stuff under my hood is either new or in good condition.

then all you really need as long as everything is on the engine is basic tune up parts like timing belt, waterpump
your tranny will work just fine just make sure the zc you buy has the intake manifold with it |
