88 Bonneville CD player Wiring
I'm having a little trouble figuring out the correct way to wire up a CD player in this car. I've had one in it before. I bought a adapter and it just pluged up, no problem. After about 5 years of service the CD player died. I drove around for about a year without one. I finally decided to put another back in it, but I could'nt find the old adapter. I took it out with the old Cd player. I put it up so I would'nt lose it, basicly I hid it
So, like the idot I am, I decided I'd do it the hard way. Rather than go pay a few bucks for another adapter. I'm having a little trouble. A few of the wires match up, the colors, But most don't. I need a wiring diagram. I have a Hayes book on Pontiac full size, but it covers several other cars in it. Different years. They left out the radio diagram for the late 80's pontiac audio. What I need is one for late 80's GM. Their all pretty much the same I think. Can anyone help me out? Thanks

A little more info on what wires I'm working with
From the car in one group I have: 3 Yellow 2 Dark Green 2 Light Green 2 Tan 3 Gray 1 Blue 1 Pink 1 Black 1 Dark Brown From the CD player I have these wires: Red 12volt+ Yellow Memory+ Blue Power Antenna Black Ground Then on the other side of the hole I have two wires Orange and Dark Brown coming out of the car. I've figured out that the Orange always has power. When I hook the Yellow Memory plus and the Red 12Volt wires with the Orange, and the Ground to the Dull Black from the car the CD player has power. But thats as far as I get. I've hooked the speaker wires up and theirs no sound. The wires I can't figure out are the 3 Yellow from the car and the extra Black And Dark Brown from the car. |

Re: 88 Bonneville CD player Wiring
ok If i was you I would hook the ground to the car itself and hook the orenge to the yellow I would find the one that cuts off and on with the key by using a test light i think the blue might be the antenna and far as the speakers thats a tough one check with the dealer to find out more
