Hmm...Very bad I suspect ?

Hey guys , I have recently been having a problem with my camaro .
1992 RS 25th - Auto - 50 Z 16's , Lots of engine mods.

Anywho , the problem is from dead stops and mashing my gas while driving at high speeds. I don't know if it has to due with the engine difference or if it's all in the rear end but heres the problem...

When I take off from a dead stop by stomping my gas to kill me some mustangs , A loud bashing ? kind of noise comes from my rear end. It feels as if the rear end picks up a bit on the shocks or something then goes back down. I burn out either way but always and ONLY when I stomp my gas. Sounds like some one smacks my axle with a 20lb. sledge hammer , I have new U-joints , yadda yadda yadda , and it hasn't caused any noticable damage However , It sounds like crap and drives me crazy !

Anyone else had this problem with their camao ?

Thanks

beleive it or not, this is a pretty common problem with camaro's. there were atleast 2 people a few months back with the same problem, and i've had it too. i've found that low gear ratio's in the rear end (2:73's etc.) cause this. i dont know if it's a problem with the pinion angle changing under hard acceleration or the cheezy stock controll arms flexing. With a gear ratio like 2:73, your applying alot of torque through a through the driveshaft to a pinion that doesn't want to turn a ring gear with that few teeth. something is going to rotate, being either the wheels or the whole rear end.
oh ya, i also had this problem after changing the engine from a 305 to a 350

check your Torque arm and make sure it is tight. if your pinion seal leaks the oil will get on the bolts and cause them to easily come loose (some of them are installed with the Bolt through the top and the Nut on the bottom, where this happens).

I'll due as suggested guys and check it out. Maybe give everything a turn or two to make sure it's all tight. But if I don't find anything to be lose , I think I will throw some serious heavy duty shocks in the back to keep it stiff in the ass for massive accel.

THanks for prompt replies guys =)

one more thing to check, i had the same situation a while back. i had broken the rear transmission mount. but it didn't look broken so i delt with the problem for a while. later i put a jack on the tail end of the tranny and jacked it up a little, and sure enough half of the mount stayed on the crossmember and half on the tranny. bought myself some polyurethane mounts and everything is fine and dandy.

Re: Hmm...Very bad I suspect ?

Trans mount! I bought my 91RS from a guy who had this problem (and told me about it!) He said a shop had told him that the whole rearend/ bushings needed replacing. $1200 for the car, $20 for the trans mount, and I have a great daily driver. Do like storm said, and put a jack on the rear of your trans ( tailhousing) Lift about 2" and youll prob notice the mount separating.
