an electric chip...

ok...imagine looking at a 99 gt (from its front), with its hood up.

on the left side, just above the air intake, theres a little electric box, with a chip-like "thing" inside. The box has about 5 slots in which the chip could fit in (the chip is in the center slot), and i guess they could be used as expansion slots. now...the chip says "Dominican Republic" on it (dunno if that relevant).

if neone could tell me what this is, or point me to a site with more info...id appreciate it..and if this is the governor, TELL ME SO I CAN RIP OUT THE LITTLE FUCKER!!!

thnx

Thumbs up Where

I would look for the club(national) with the GT's. I talk to the head of the 1996 Cobra section of a Club and he answers every question I have.

This is what he said

More than likely what he found was an aux power box with a fuse link.
What kind of wires are running to/from it?

What is your next answer?

I'd say its probably a fuse box.
I wouldn't go ripping anything out.
You shouldn't worry about your "speed govorner"...
If you want to go faster, just add mods and have Ed Wright at SuperChips reflash the computer. That would raise your speed governer in a MUCH safer way. Not to mention, the programming alone would add a few ponies.
