Replacing crankshaft positioning censor
Well it all started when my 1990 Cherokee lorado 4.0 sometimes would start and sometimes not. Could not find any pattern. Replaced plugs, wires, cap, roter, coil, modual, fuel filter with the same result. Then came across this fourm (wish i new sooner). Ran a spark test when it would not start and no spart from the modual. Now going to replace the Crankshaft positioning censor. I know its on the bell housing and can see it but how do i get to it??? Do I have to drop the trany? Also , called the dealer to get a price and he said that the computer has to be reprogrammed after install. Is this correct?
